Toshiba releases in Japan two new & latest LED street lamps, the LEDW-15101W(H) for linear poles & the LEDW-15201W(H) for oblong poles offering an average road luminance of 1.0cd/m2 with an average power consumption of 122W, compare to 415W power consumption of a 400W mercury lamp & 195W of a 180W high-pressure sodium lamp.
Even when the LED module of the lamps breaks down, it keeps producing light by using one of its two power lines. Also, the module has a function to start up by steadily increasing brightness so that it does not harm human eyes
